Funding the Humanoid Boom: Inside 2026's Record Capital Flows
More money has moved into humanoid robotics in the last eighteen months than in the decade before it combined.
Global equity funding in humanoid robotics has reached roughly $8.6 billion across about 113 rounds, and 2026's year-to-date total already exceeds all of 2025 — itself a record year. Understanding where that money is actually going says a lot about how the industry sees its own next few years.
Late-stage money is new
Late-stage rounds were essentially absent before 2025. Roughly $1.1 billion was raised at that stage in 2025, and about $2 billion so far in 2026 — a sign investors increasingly see specific, named companies as de-risked enough for much bigger, later bets rather than pure speculation on the category as a whole.
Apptronik's $520 million Series A at a reported $5 billion valuation is the standout example: a single round larger than most entire industries' annual robotics funding a few years ago.
Geography tells two different stories
Chinese humanoid startups reportedly accounted for around 65% of deal volume in 2025 — far more individual rounds than anywhere else. But US companies still won the largest individual raises, with at least three exceeding $400 million, meaning deal count and deal size are telling genuinely different stories depending on which region you look at.
What it's actually buying
A meaningful share of this capital is going toward manufacturing scale-up rather than pure R&D — tooling, factories, and supply chain, not just engineering headcount. That's consistent with an industry that increasingly believes the bottleneck has shifted from "can we build this" to "can we build enough of it, reliably, at a price someone will pay."
Whether that belief is correct is the real open question. A lot of announced production-capacity targets are just that — targets, not confirmed sales — and the gap between the two has historically been large in capital-intensive hardware industries.
