In real deployments, grasp failure rates that would ruin a highlight reel are routine, and a genuinely useful robot needs to detect failure and retry or adapt rather than continuing as if nothing went wrong.
How systems handle it
Force and tactile sensors typically confirm whether an object was actually secured before the arm moves on, and a failed confirmation can trigger an automatic retry, a different grasp approach, or in commercial settings, flagging the item for human intervention rather than repeatedly attempting an approach that isn't working.
