Robot company press releases are, understandably, written to present the company in the most favorable light — genuinely useful information, but worth reading with the same critical eye you'd apply to any other company's marketing material.

Specific things to check

Is a claimed capability demonstrated with verifiable evidence (video, third-party validation, disclosed benchmark results), or simply asserted in text? Are quoted figures (units deployed, funding raised, performance benchmarks) specific and sourced, or vague and unverifiable? Does the timeline for future claims include a specific date, or use vague language like 'soon' or 'in the near future' that's easy to quietly walk back later?

A useful comparison habit

Comparing a company's current press release against its previous announcements from six or twelve months earlier — checking whether previously promised timelines and capabilities actually materialized as described — is one of the more reliable ways to calibrate how much weight to put on its current claims.
