Tesla Optimus

Optimus is Tesla's bet that the skills it built for self-driving cars — cheap high-volume manufacturing, custom silicon, and a large internally-collected training dataset — transfer directly to a general-purpose humanoid.

As of 2026, Optimus units are deployed internally across Tesla's own Fremont, Austin, and Berlin plants rather than sold commercially. Tesla has talked publicly about a next-generation "Optimus 3" ahead of any public reveal, alongside a long-term cost target well below what most full-size competitors currently quote.
