The numbers on a spec sheet are real, but comparing them fairly across companies takes some care.
Humanoid robot spec sheets often highlight whichever numbers make a platform look most impressive, without necessarily using consistent testing conditions or definitions across different companies — which makes direct comparison trickier than it first appears.
Questions worth asking
Is quoted payload capacity continuous or a brief peak? Is battery runtime measured under a demanding task or gentle idle conditions? Is degrees-of-freedom counted including or excluding the hands? Are quoted specs independently verified, or self-reported by the manufacturer without third-party testing?
A more reliable approach
Comparing platforms on independently verified, standardized benchmarks — where they exist — or on real-world deployment track record (documented hours on an actual production line, for instance) tends to be far more informative than comparing headline spec numbers pulled from different marketing materials.
